The goal of Hampton Roads Academy’s Lower School is to nurture a passion for learning. Our challenging and rigorous curriculum includes fundamental skills in reading, writing, mathematics, and science to build a strong academic base and teach critical thinking. Students in Pre-K through Grade 4 flourish in a supportive and creative environment, guided by dedicated and knowledgeable teachers who prioritize their growth and success.

Our Middle School provides a solid foundation in core subjects to prepare students in Grades 5 through 8 for Upper School and beyond. The curriculum at HRA’s Middle School offers a thorough academic and behavioral foundation, gradually expanding students’ sense of independence and equipping them to tackle increasingly challenging material. Beyond academic success, we aim to cultivate a Middle School environment where every student feels supported, encouraged, and valued daily.

In HRA’s Upper School, our diverse curriculum is crafted to prepare students for both college and life outside the classroom. Our comprehensive educational program emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication, equipping each student for future success. Our REACH Initiative and dedicated college counseling team help students navigate the college admissions process and make informed decisions about their educational and career paths.

While the college application process can seem overwhelming at first, our aim is to ensure your student is well-informed about their choices, feels supported through every stage of the application journey, and ultimately gains admission to the college or university of their choice. Our college counselors assist students and their families through each step, from researching potential colleges and guiding your student through testing to making the final decision about where to study.
